Woman allegedly beaten to death by husband in Ameerpet hotel

A 34-year-old woman was allegedly beaten to death with a curtain rod inside an Ameerpet hotel room. Police suspect her husband Srinivas in the murder and have launched a search for him after hotel staff found her dead.

Hyderabad: A 34-year-old woman was allegedly beaten to death with a curtain rod by her husband inside a hotel room in Ameerpet on Monday night.

The victim, B Shireesha, from Nagasamudram village in Dharur mandal of Vikarabad district, was running an SBI Customer Service Point. She had divorced her husband in 2016 and later developed a relationship with A Srinivas (38) of Ogalapur in Peddemul mandal.

Though their families opposed the relationship, the couple reportedly married at a temple. The couple checked into Gokul Pride Hotel on Dharam Karam Road on September 24 using the names ‘Ganesh’ and ‘Durga’. Around 3.30 am on Tuesday, Srinivas allegedly left after locking the room, telling hotel staff that Shireesha would have breakfast and vacate later.

When she did not respond even after 9 am, the hotel staff opened the room with a spare key and found her dead on the bed. Police found multiple injuries on her body and suspect she was assaulted with a curtain rod while the television was playing at high volume.

Special teams are searching for Srinivas. The SR Nagar police registered a murder case on a complaint from Shireesha’s brother.
