Hyderabad: A woman from Chaitanyapuri has lodged a complaint with the police alleging that a man cheated her under the pretext of marriage by posing as an employee of the Food Corporation of India (FCI).
According to the complaint, the suspect, Rajesh, introduced himself using a fake FCI identity card and gained her trust. He allegedly demanded Rs 2 crore as dowry, later agreeing to Rs 1.5 crore after negotiations. The victim stated that the engagement was held in Nalgonda, and the man appeared genuine during that time.
However, she alleged that after the engagement, he called her to a room under the pretext of a pre-wedding shoot and subjected her to harassment.
Growing suspicious, she made inquiries about his background and discovered that his job credentials were fake.
Following this, she approached the police, who registered a case and took the suspect into custody.
Police also seized two fake FCI ID cards, a mobile phone, and a car from him.
