Woman alleges online abuse, threats after family calls off marriage in Hyderabad
A Hyderabad woman has alleged severe harassment, online abuse and threats from a man after her family called off their proposed marriage. She alleged that he took Rs 15 lakh, demanded dowry and later spread false claims about her on social media.

Hyderabad: A woman was allegedly subjected to severe harassment and online abuse by a man who was allegedly enraged after her family called off their proposed marriage.
According to the complaint, the woman had met the suspect, AR Vamshi, through a dating app. After their engagement, he allegedly took Rs 15 lakh from her and also pressured her family for an advance dowry. Following this, the woman’s family decided to cancel the marriage.
The suspect allegedly retaliated by spreading false claims on social media that the woman was addicted to drugs. He also reportedly threatened to throw acid on her and kill her, causing severe distress to the victim.
Based on the woman’s complaint, the Malkajgiri Cybercrime Police registered a case and are investigating the allegations and the social media posts.
