Woman doctor cheated of Rs 25 lakh in fake love affair in Hyderabad
A woman doctor from HMT Colony in Hyderabad was cheated of Rs 25 lakh and 15 tolas of gold by a man she met on social media. Promising marriage, he later blackmailed her with personal photographs. Police are investigating
Hyderabad: A woman doctor was cheated and later blackmailed by a man after being trapped in a fake love affair in Alwal.
According to the police, a young doctor from HMT Colony came into contact with Subrahmanyam (32), a resident of Ameenpur, through social media a year ago. Both decided to get married.
Claiming that he was holding a senior position in an online delivery company and citing family problems, the suspect gained her trust and collected Rs 25 lakh from her over a period of time. He also took 15 tolas of gold ornaments from the victim’s mother.
When the doctor later raised the topic of marriage, Subrahmanyam began threatening her, saying he would post her personal photographs on social media.
Realising she had been cheated, the woman lodged a complaint with the Alwal police, who are investigating.
