Jagtial: A 65-year-old woman, Venaganti Rajeshwari, died after being electrocuted on the premises of the Kondagattu Anjaneyaswamy temple on Thursday.
Rajeshwari reportedly received an electric shock when she touched a gate near the Kalyanakatta while going to the washroom. The gate was said to have been connected to a damaged electric wire. She collapsed on the spot with severe injuries. Her daughter-in-law, Saritha, who rushed to help her, also suffered an electric shock.
Family members shifted Rajeshwari to a hospital, where she died while undergoing treatment.
Relatives alleged that her death was due to the negligence of temple authorities, claiming that they had to wait a long time for an ambulance. They said Rajeshwari might have survived if medical help had been available immediately.
They also alleged that despite a monkey being electrocuted at the same spot earlier, officials had failed to take precautionary measures.
