Adilabad: A woman sustained injuries when a leopard attacked her when she went to attend nature’s call outside her home at Dedra village in Bazarhathnoor mandal on Saturday morning.

Bheema Bai from the village was injured when the leopard, which was on the prowl in the area for the last few days, pounced on her near her cattle shed on the fringes of a forest. She managed to survive by raising an alarm. Locals came to her rescue and informed the forest officials about the incident.

She was immediately shifted to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS)-Adilabad. Her medical condition was said to be stable. The Forest Department extended immediate relief for medical expenses and staffers were tracking her health condition.

The forest officials suspected that the leopard had come to kill cattle in the shed. At least 13 leopards reside in the forests of the district. They mostly kill cattle in forests, the official stated.

On November 29, Morle Lakshmi (21) was mauled by a tiger to death while she was engaged in harvesting the cotton crop at Easgaon village in Kagaznagar mandal of Kumram Bheem Asifabad district. The same tiger was suspected to have attacked farmer Rauthu Suresh at Dubbagudem village in Sirpur (T) mandal on November 30.
