Kothagudem: The police on Thursday arrested a woman for allegedly killing her husband at Reddypalem village in the district. According to the police, the accused, Azmeera Lalitha, aged around 33, killed her husband Azmeera Ramu (35), a lorry cleaner, with the help of her paramour, Kasani Krishna, a sheep trader of Ayyagaripalem of Yerrupalem mandal in Khammam district.
Lalitha and Ramu have two daughters and live at Panugottu thanda of Tekulapalli mandal in Kothagudem district. Lalitha, who used to trade sheep and goats came in contact with Krishna five years ago and since then, they have been in an illicit relationship.
This led to clashes between wife and husband. On May 14, Krishna and Lalitha hatched a plan to kill Ramu and took him to Burgampad on the pretext of buying goats. The same night, they strangled him to death and buried his body in the river bed.
After the incident, Lalitha took her two daughters and went to Krishna’s place. Ramu’s mother Azmeera Lakshmi, who was unaware of the development, lodged a police complaint on June 8 about the disappearance of her son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren.
Tekulapalli CI, B Raju and SI, Raj Kumar, investigating the missing case, questioned Lalitha, who came to Panugottu thanda after a gap of a month on Wednesday. During the interrogation, she spilled the beans and led the police to the place where Ramu’s body was buried. Krishna is absconding and the manhunt was on to nab him, the police said.
