Hyderabad: A woman died after she was hit by an iron rod by her husband at their house in Kadthal on the city outskirts.

The victim identified as Susheela (32) was married to Yellaiah about 16 years ago and the couple has two sons. While Yellaiah works as a tractor driver, Susheela worked as an agricultural labourer.

Police said Yellaiah would often come home drunk and pick up fights over petty issues.

On Sunday, he came home late in an inebriated condition and Susheela warned him to change his behaviour.

This led to an argument between the couple and angered by it, Yellaiah grabbed an axe and hit on Susheela’s head.

She suffered grievous bleeding injuries and was immediately shifted to the hospital, where she died on Monday.
