Woman raped, assaulted near Makthal stadium
A homeless woman living with her son was allegedly raped and assaulted by unidentified persons near Makthal mini-stadium in Narayanpet. Morning walkers found her unconscious and alerted police, who registered a case and launched a search for the accused.

Narayanpet: A woman was allegedly raped and brutally assaulted by unidentified persons while she was sleeping near the mini-stadium grounds in Makthal in the early hours of Thursday.
Morning walkers found the woman unconscious and alerted the police, who rushed to the spot and shifted her to the Makthal Government Hospital for treatment.
According to locals, the woman had been living with her 12-year-old son and is surviving on alms. The mother and son used to take shelter near the Government Junior College in Makthal.
According to reports, police suspect two unidentified persons attacked the woman while she and her son were asleep. When she screamed, her son woke up and tried to intervene. The assailants allegedly attacked him as well, forcing the frightened boy to flee the spot. The accused then allegedly raped and assaulted the woman.
Morning walkers later found the woman lying in a pool of blood near the stadium grounds and informed the police.
A case has been registered and police have launched a search to trace the accused.
Local residents expressed concern over anti-social activities in the vicinity of the Government Junior College and mini-stadium at night. They also raised concerns over the safety of women and homeless people, alleging that individuals under the influence of alcohol roam the area after dark.
