Woman sexually assaulted by Instagram friend in Hyderabad
A 25-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man she befriended on Instagram. The suspect invited her to his house under the pretext of celebrating her birthday, where the assault occurred. A police case has been registered.
Hyderabad: A 25-year-old woman from Manikonda was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man she had befriended on Instagram about a month ago, police said on Wednesday.
The suspect, identified as J Siddha Reddy (24), a resident of Balanagar and a native of Nalgonda district, had been interacting with the woman through social media platforms before they exchanged phone numbers.
On Wednesday evening, Reddy reportedly invited the woman to his residence in Balanagar, under the pretext of celebrating her birthday. When she visited his house, he allegedly sexually assaulted her, police said.
The woman managed to escape from the house and approached the police for help. Acting swiftly, Balanagar police rescued the woman and registered a case based on her complaint.
An investigation is underway.
