Hyderabad: Tragedy struck a family returning from Yadagirigutta when a hit-and-run incident left two dead and two others seriously injured.

The accident took place near Bhongir bypass when B Jagan (35), along with his wife Pavani (30), and children Satwika (5) and Pranay (2), of Champapet, was returning after visiting the Sri Laxminarasimha Swamy temple in Yadagirigutta.

According to the police, Jagan, who works in the administration department of a private junior college, along with family went for a short trip to the Yadagirigutta temple and Swarnagiri temple on a bike on Friday.

They were returning from Yadagirigutta in the evening on the bike. On reaching Deepthi Hotel on the Hyderabad-Warangal national highway near Bhongir bypass, an unidentified vehicle hit their motorcycle. Due to the impact, the motorcycle went and hit a road median.

While Pavani, who suffered grievous bleeding injuries, died on the spot, Pranay who was seriously injured, died while being shifted to the hospital. Meanwhile, Jagan and his daughter Satwika were injured in the incident. Passersby shifted them to the hospital, where they are currently being treated. Their condition is said to be stable.

Based on a complaint, the Bhongir police booked a case and took up investigation. Efforts are on to trace the vehicle involved in the crash. The bodies of Pavani and Pranay were shifted to the District Hospital for autopsy.
