Hyderabad: A woman was strangulated to death by her friend at a lodge in Shadnagar in Ranga Reddy district three days ago. The incident came to light on Wednesday night after the body was found in a highly decomposed state in a room at the lodge.
P Shiva Leela (34), a resident of Kandivanam village of Ranga Reddy district stayed along with her mother after the death of her husband. She worked as a labourer and through the earnings managed her expenses.
According to the police, during her work, she met Devender who gradually became her close friend. Both of them agreed to get married.
Leela asked Devender to discuss with her mother about their marriage proposal to which he agreed. A week ago, Devender came to the house of Leela and met her mother and spoke to her. He told the victim’s mother that he would marry Leela soon.
On December 20, Devender came home and took Leela out saying that would be going to hospital. He is suspected to have taken the woman to a private lodge at Shadnagar where he had booked a room.
“We suspect there was an argument between the couple in the lodge over some issue. An enraged Devender might have strangulated the woman to death and then escaped from the place,” said Shadnagar Inspector, P Vijay Kumar.
The murder came to light on Wednesday night after the management of the lodge found the body of the woman in highly decomposed state in a room. The police shifted the body for post-mortem to Osmania General Hospital.
Police formed teams to nab Devender who is absconding.
