Mancherial: A woman small-time trader attempted to end her life by consuming some pesticide as she was unable to bear alleged harassment by authorities of Chennur municipality on Thursday.

Jillela Samatha, a trader who operates a roadside shop attempted to kill herself by taking a pesticide when authorities of the civic body slapped a fine of Rs 1,000 as a licence fee and tried to remove some of the shops occupied on the stretch. She was immediately rushed to a government hospital in Chennur. She was stated to be out of danger.

Meanwhile, the traders and roadside vendors flayed the authorities for imposing fines and demolishing the shops. They alleged that the officials were mercilessly removing the roadside businesses and were ruining the livelihood of the small-time traders. They requested MLA Balka Suman to take steps to prevent the acts of the authorities.
