Hyderabad: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, women from different walks of life planted saplings at different places in the city on Tuesday.
This came after Rajya Sabha MP Joginapally Santosh Kumar who initiated the Green India Challenge requested the women to plant saplings on March 8. He further urged them to take a selfie and share the same on 91 90003 65000.
Responding to the call, scores of women joined the challenge and shared pictures on social media. Mayors, Corporators, MLAs, celebrities and others planted saplings.
Those who responded to the Santosh Kumar’s appeal included Telangana Women Safety DIG, B Sumathi, Gaddam Seetha Reddy, Telangana State Public Service Commission member Sumithra Anand Tanoba, and actress Ritu Varma. Women workforce of Hetero Drugs in the city too planted saplings as part of Green India Challenge.
About 200 girl students at Jamiat Ul Mominath at Moghalpura, planted saplings at the premises. T News Urdu Editor-in-Chief Khaja Qayyum Anwar, Green India Challenge co-founder Raghava, BC Commission member Kishore Goud, and Mufti Hafiz Mohammed Mastan Ali of Jamiat Ul Mominath were present at the event.
