Southampton: Pakistan Women will look to keep their Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign alive when they take on Bangladesh Women in a crucial Group 1 fixture at the Rose Bowl in Southampton on Saturday.

Both teams enter this contest on the heels of defeats in their respective previous matches and will be feeling the pressure of a must-win situation. Having lost their opening two fixtures, Pakistan currently sit at the bottom of the Group 1 points table. Bangladesh, who started their campaign with an impressive six-wicket victory, saw their momentum halted by a heavy defeat against a dominant Australian side and currently occupy fourth place.

In their last outing, Pakistan elected to bat first and posted 126 runs against South Africa. While the batters gave the bowling unit a fighting total to defend, the bowlers struggled to contain the Proteas, who chased down the target with two balls to spare.

Bangladesh suffered an even tougher outing in their previous game. After their positive tournament start, the batting lineup collapsed spectacularly against a ruthless Australian bowling attack, managing to post a meager 77 runs. The six-time world champions chased the target down comfortably in under 10 overs.

For Pakistan, the formula for survival rests on scoring more freely in the powerplay and picking up early wickets to spark a semi-final push. Another loss will effectively end their knockout hopes. Bangladesh, meanwhile, will be desperate to regain the composure they exhibited during their tournament opener. While their bowlers ran into a clinical Australian outfit, it is their batting unit that must dig deep against a disciplined Pakistani attack hungry for redemption.
