Warangal: The Department of Civil Engineering (CE), Kakatiya Institute of Technology and Science Warangal (KITSW) is working towards ensuring that the students are industry-ready engineers in the field of Civil Engineering. As a part of this, the department organised a one-day workshop on ‘Green Buildings – An Overview,’ KITSW Principal Prof K Ashoka Reddy said on Tuesday.
Addressing the workshop, Engineer, Indian Green Building Council, Hyderabad, T Prem Sai Reddy underscored the need for sustainable practices, the concept of green buildings, and an overview of various tools and software used for green evaluating Green Buildings.
Professor and Head, CED, Dr M Veera Reddy said that the Department of Civil Engineering had been established in 1980 at the KITS with the inception of the institute. “The department offers a four year Bachelor’s degree programme in Civil Engineering and two year Master’s Degree programme in Structural and Construction Engineering. About 500 students are studying Bachelor’s Degree and 60 students are doing Master’s degree,” he added.
“The department is well equipped with modernised laboratories to cater to the needs of UG and PG courses,’ he added. Incharge Principal Prof V Rajagopal, faculty coordinator, Dr Narala Gangadhara Reddy; CE Association faculty Incharges- P Teja Abhilash and B. Sravanthi, faculty members Dr L Sudheer Reddy, Dr M Andal, Dr M Srikanth, Dr D Hari Krishna, Dr S Sunil Prathap Reddy and Associate Professor of Chemistry and PRO Dr D Prabhakara Chary were present. More than 150 students have attended the workshop, according to the press note.
