World-Class Javelin throwers confirm participation in inaugural Neeraj Chopra Classic

The Chopra Classic javelin event, organized by Neeraj Chopra and JSW Sports in collaboration with the Athletics Federation of India and World Athletics, will take place in Bengaluru on May 24.

Hyderabad: Two-time World champion Anderson Peters of Grenada, 2016 Rio Olympics gold medallist Thomas Rohler of Germany, former World champion and 2016 Olympics silver medallist Julius Yego of Kenya have confirmed their participation in the inaugural Neeraj. Chopra Classic javelins event, jointly organised by Neeraj and JSW Sports in association with the Athletics Federation of India and the World Athletics in Bengaluru on May 24.

The other big names include top-ranked American Curtis Thompson, who was 2023 Pan American Games champion and consistent performer on the Diamond League with a personal best of 87.76m, Genki Dean of Japan, who was the Asian Games 2023 bronze medallist with a top-10 world ranking and a personal best of 84.28m, Luiz Mauricio da Silva of Brazil, the South American powerhouse with multiple podium finishes atthe South American Athletics Championships with a personal best of
85.91m.
