Hyderabad: Yashoda Hospitals-Secunderabad marked another significant milestone in the field of cardiac electrophysiology by successfully introducing the state-of-the-art Pulse Field Ablation (PFA) technology for the treatment of complex heart rhythm disorders.
Using the globally advanced Medtronic PulseSelect Pulse Field Ablation System, the Electrophysiology team successfully performed the procedure on two patients aged 31 and 84 suffering from complex cardiac arrhythmias.
Pulse Field Ablation (PFA) is an innovative, non-thermal ablation technology primarily used to treat Atrial Fibrillation (AF) and other complex cardiac rhythm disorders. Unlike conventional thermal ablation techniques that use heat or extreme cold, PFA employs precisely controlled pulsed electric fields to selectively target abnormal cardiac tissue responsible for generating irregular electrical signals while preserving surrounding healthy structures.
This highly selective approach significantly minimises the risk of injury to adjacent organs such as the esophagus and the phrenic nerve, thereby enhancing procedural safety, reducing complications, and enabling faster patient recovery.
Dr M S Chandramouli, Senior Cardiac Electrophysiologist & Heart Failure Specialist, Yashoda Hospitals, Secunderabad, said: “This technology has offered excellent clinical outcomes with minimal collateral tissue damage and faster recovery.”
