Kothagudem: A community connect programme was conducted at Vinobha Nagar under Yellandu police station limits in the district on Thursday.

Led by Yellandu DSP Chandrabhanu, over 100 police officers and staff carried out searches in about 250 houses. Seventy two-wheelers, three autos and one car without proper documents and number plates were seized.

Later, speaking at a meeting organised with the residents, the DSP asked them to inform the police immediately if they had information about people involved in illegal and anti-social activities.

He assured that the details of informants would be kept confidential. Vigilance was being maintained against those involved in activities such as matka, gambling, betting and ganja transportation.

Chandrabhanu advised the public to install CCTV cameras in their residential areas to help control crimes. He also urged people to remain alert against cyber crimes. He added that if residents brought problems to the police, steps would be taken to address them in consultation with relevant authorities.

Police officials B Satyanarayana and T Suresh were present.
