Young coal miner killed as sidewall collapses in Mandamarri mine, trade unions slam SCCL
A 32-year-old coal miner died after a sidewall collapsed in the KK5 underground mine in Mandamarri. Trade unions have accused SCCL officials of negligence and demanded urgent improvements to safety protocols in underground mining operations to prevent more deaths.
Mancherial: A young coal miner died after a sidewall collapsed on him while he was at work in the KK5 underground mine in Mandamarri on Friday.
Rachapalli Shravan Kumar (32), who operated a coal mining machine, sustained critical injuries when the sidewall caved in. He was first taken to a hospital in Ramakrishnapur. As his condition worsened, he was shifted to a hospital in Karimnagar but died en route.
They accused SCCL officials of failing to implement basic safety measures in underground operations and alleged that such lapses were leading to repeated fatal accidents.
Unions demanded immediate steps to improve safety protocols for miners working in underground pits to prevent further tragedies.
