A 59-year-old coal miner was killed in a hit-and-run accident while crossing NH 363 at Buradgudem in Mandamarri town, Mancherial district. Police said the victim, an employee of the KK5 underground mine, sustained fatal injuries after being struck by a speeding car.
A 32-year-old coal miner died after a sidewall collapsed in the KK5 underground mine in Mandamarri. Trade unions have accused SCCL officials of negligence and demanded urgent improvements to safety protocols in underground mining operations to prevent more deaths.
Venkata Sai from Mandamarri town received fatal injuries and suffered profuse bleeding when the motorbike dashed against the island at around 11. 30 pm.
Srirampur Inspector B Koteshwar said the deceased was Suraiah, a native of Mandamarri and an employee of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL)’s timber yard in Srirampur.
