Mancherial: A youngster from Jagitial district was booked on charges of duping jobless youth by posing as an IAS officer and promising them jobs in various government departments.
Mancherial Inspector Mutti Lingaiah said the accused was Barla Laxminarayana, a native of Rekulapalli village in Jagitial district. About 30 victims approached cops and lodged a complaint. The youngster was absconding.
Porandla Santosh, one of the victims and a Dubai returnee from Rekulapalli, told pressmen that Laxminarayana extracted Rs 3 lakh from him with the promise of a government job. He said that about 20 residents of his village were cheated by the youngster. He sought police to probe into his wrongdoing and sought justice.
The inspector said that they were gathering information of victims and how much funds the pseudo IAS officer collected from the jobless under the guise of a bureaucrat. He suggested the victims to approach police and extend cooperation in unearthing the scandal. He stated that a special team was formed for nabbing the accused.
During searches by police in an upmarket house rented in Mancherial, cops found service books relating to various government departments and applications of the unemployed. It is learned that scores of youngsters from Jagitial and Mancherial were duped by Laxminarayana under the guise of an IAS officer.
