Hyderabad: A youngster, who decided to shake a leg to a trending Instagram Reels tune, by stopping on the Durgam Cheruvu cable-stayed bridge, was fined by the Traffic Police, while the Madhapur Police caught another six youngsters who stopped their bikes on the bridge to perform stunts and click pictures even when traffic was passing by.

A video of the dancing youngster was shared on Twitter on Wednesday by others, asking the police to impose a fine on him for the dangerous act. However, it turned out that the Madhapur Traffic Police had already slapped a fine on him on July 27 itself, which was presumably when he performed the dance, with cars passing by. Though some said his moves were quite impressive, the spot he chose for the dance was quite wrong, they pointed out, adding that he had put his own life at risk, and that of others too.

Earlier this week, it was the turn of another group to be penalised for such risky acts, with the Madhapur police nabbing six youngsters who stopped their bikes on the bridge and performed stunts. A fine too was imposed on them. The youngsters, all in their early twenties, had on the night of August 6 stopped their motorbikes on the bridge, where no stopping is allowed, and performed dangerous stunts amidst traffic. By this time, the Cyberabad Traffic Police saw them via the Surveillance Camera Monitoring Center set up on the bridge and using the public address system, warned them to stop what they were doing.

On hearing the warning, the youngsters quickly fled the spot. The police meanwhile shared the camera footage on social media, urging citizens not to resort to such dangerous violations on the bridge. The Cyberabad Traffic Police have observed dangerous crossings and stunts by reckless people on the bridge. Apart from this, many youngsters are thronging the bridge for a quick selfie amidst vehicular traffic. The surveillance cameras on the bridge also captured a few dangerous crossings by people, which could have probably resulted in accidents and loss of life too.
