Khammam: A youth, who came home to celebrate Sankranti festival went missing and was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Khammam town.

According to family members, P Sanjay Kumar (22) of Rajiv Swagruha Colony in Khammam rural mandal was undergoing software training in Hyderabad and came to Khammam on January 12 for the festival.

He went to the new bus stand on a two-wheeler to pick up his brother, Gnanasai during wee hours on Monday as the latter was coming home from Hyderabad for the festival. But, before he reached the bus stand Sanjay Kumar reportedly called his brother saying that a vehicle hit his motorbike at a chicken shop near the colony.

He later sent a voice message from his phone informing that there were four persons in the auto rickshaw; they killed a woman and they were trying to kill him after abducting him in an auto rickshaw. Sanjay Kumar pleaded with his brother to save him from the assailants and sent his live location; later the phone was switched off.

Then the family members, the local youths and police searched for Sanjay Kumar at NSP canal and surrounding areas but they could not find him except for the bike. Sanjay’s body was found at Tanikella NSP canal locks on Tuesday.

Khammam rural police shifted the body to Government General Hospital for postmortem. The local Inspector of Police Raju told the media that they were checking the footage of CCTV cameras for clues related to the incident.
