Hyderabad: YRP Foundation is distributing 20,000 eco-friendly clay Ganesh idols across Hyderabad and Nalgonda on the occasion of Vinayaka Chavithi. This year marks the 9th consecutive year of the Foundation’s eco-friendly Ganesh idol distribution initiative, which aims to encourage devotees to celebrate the festival while protecting the environment.
A unique feature of this year’s idols is that they contain tree seeds/saplings. After the festival, devotees can place the immersed clay idol along with the seed in a pot or directly in the soil and add water. As the clay dissolves naturally, the seed can germinate and grow into a plant, turning the traditional practice of idol immersion into an opportunity to contribute to greenery and environmental conservation.
Yelishala Ravi Prasad, Founder & Chairman, Vaishnaoi Group and Founder, YRP Foundation, said, “Through eco-friendly clay idols, and especially this year’s seed-embedded idols, we want to encourage a simple but meaningful idea — let our celebrations give something back to Mother Nature.”
