Hyderabad: A moving car caught fire at Durga Nagar in Mailardevpally on Friday morning. The driver managed to escape on seeing flames from the engine.

Police said the incident occurred when the car was proceeding towards Mailardevpally.

Motorists passing by alerted the fire department, following which a fire engine rushed to the spot and doused the fire immediately. The car was gutted in the fire.

A short circuit in the engine is suspected to have led to the fire. The Mailardevpally police are investigating.
