Jangaon: As many as 28 passengers including two drivers had a narrow escape when the super-luxury bus of a private company in which they were travelling caught fire and was gutted near Nelluttla village in the district National Highway 163 at Nellutla outskirts in Jangaon district in the early hours of Monday.
The driver, who sensed a problem, noticed flames leaping out of the engine and asked the passengers to get down immediately with their belongings. As soon as the passengers got off the bus, it went up in flames uncontrollably. On learning about the incident, a police team led by Lingala Ghanpur SI Devender rushed to the spot and informed fire service personnel. A fire tender from Jangaon town reached the spot and tried to douse the flames.
The SI said that a private bus belonged to Krishna Travel from Jagdalpur city of Chhattisgarh was proceeding to Hyderabad and caught fire when it reached Nellutla village around 5:30 am. There were two drivers on the bus. A short-circuit in the engine may have led to the mishap.
