Hyderabad: A moving car caught fire at Jubilee Hills here on Wednesday afternoon. No casualties were reported as the driver and a passenger escaped from the vehicle on seeing flames from the engine.

Police said the incident occurred around 2.30 pm when the car being driven by one Sridhar with his friend Likshith accompanying him, was proceeding from Uppal towards Gachibowli.

On seeing flames and smoke suddenly emanating from the engine, the duo stopped the car on the road and rushed out of it. Motorists passing by noticed the fire and alerted the fire department and police.

A fire engine rushed to the spot and the fire was doused immediately. The car was heavily damaged in the fire.

A short circuit in the engine is suspected to have led to the fire. The Jubilee Hills police are investigating.
