Hyderabad: A moving car caught fire on the Patny flyover in Secunderabad on Tuesday morning. The driver and others traveling in the vehicle managed to escape on seeing flames from the engine.
None were hurt in the incident and a short circuit in the engine is suspected to have caused the fire, police said. The incident occurred when the car was proceeding from Secunderabad towards Begumpet. The alert driver who noticed flames from the engine stopped it on the middle of the flyover and escaped.
Motorists passing by alerted the fire department and the police, following which a fire engine rushed to the spot and doused the fire immediately. The car was gutted in the fire.
The incident led to traffic congestion on the busy Paradise – Begumpet route. The traffic police reached the spot and moved the vehicle from the flyover and cleared the traffic.
