Nizamabad: A mentally unstable unidentified person died when the cabin of a truck where he had taken shelter caught fire accidentally under Sixth Town police station limits in the city on Thursday night.
Police are inquiring into the incident and are also trying to establish the identity of the deceased person.
Sources said the person was roaming around near the police station around midnight, and was asked by the cops to leave the station surroundings. He then got into the cabin of the truck parked near the police station. It is suspected that the fire may have been accidentally caused by a lit beedi or cigarette butt since he was found smoking in the cabin.
The truck owner, Mujahid, had parked the truck near his house and left for Hyderabad two days ago.
On being alerted by the locals, fire-fighters rushed to the spot and put out the fire. Sixth Town police registered a case and are investigating.
