1.5 per cent of basic pay or basic pension to be deducted for EHS for govt employees and pensioners

Hyderabad: The State government on Monday issued orders that 1.5 per cent of basic pay or basic pension would be deducted towards contribution for new Employee Health Care Trust (EHCT) for implementation of the Employees Health Scheme. On its part, the State government would be extending equal matching contribution to the Trust.
As per the orders, all Heads of Departments, District Collectors, and Drawing and Disbursing Officers in the State have been directed to deduct 1.5 per cent of the Basic Pay/Basic Pension towards contribution to the Employees Health Scheme (EHS) Fund from the salaries and pensions for the month of May, 2026, payable in June, 2026, and onwards.
Further, deduction of contribution shall be restricted to one employee/pensioner only in the following cases, where both husband and wife are State Government employees; where one spouse is a State Government employee, and the other spouse is a State Government pensioner; and where a State Government pensioner is drawing both Service Pension and Family Pension, the orders said.
