Hyderabad: BRS leader and former TNGO president G Devi Prasad extended full support to employees’ agitation over the implementation of the Employees Health Scheme (EHS).
He raised concern over the lack of clarity on cashless medical services. He urged the State government to hold talks with the JAC representatives and resolve the employees’ concerns.
In a statement, Devi Prasad questioned the government’s announcement that the revamped EHS came into effect from August 17, while employees have allegedly not been able to avail cashless treatment at hospitals.
He demanded that the government disclose details of the 4,440 beneficiaries it claimed had already benefited, including their names, hospitals, treatments and expenditure.
He also asked why the government had been deducting EHS contributions from employees’ salaries since May, if the scheme became operational only from August 17. He sought immediate reimbursement of eligible medical expenses incurred by employees, pensioners and their dependents from May 1, 2026.
The BRS leader also demanded that cashless inpatient and outpatient services be extended to all empanelled government and private hospitals. Digital health cards should be issued immediately, while wellness centres should be equipped with adequate doctors, staff, diagnostic facilities and medicines.
He also sought a cashless comprehensive health check-up for pensioners every six months, covering basic tests for blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, kidney, liver and heart-related ailments. He demanded a clear explanation for the gap between premium collection and the EHS implementation date.
