11-year-old boy, man drown in Godavari river in Telangana’s Nirmal

Police said that Kuldeep Saheb Deshmukh (11) from Takli village in Parbhani district of Maharashtra met a watery grave when he was taking a holy bath in the river at the ghat. He was accompanied by four family members who could not rescue him when he was drowing.

Nirmal: In two separate incidents, two devotees drowned in the Godavari river while they were taking a holy dip in it at Basar on Monday.

Police said that Kuldeep Saheb Deshmukh (11) from Takli village in Parbhani district of Maharashtra met a watery grave when he was taking a holy bath in the river at the ghat. He was accompanied by four family members who could not rescue him when he was drowing.

Meanwhile, Bolla Malla Raju (40) belonging to Navipet mandal in the neighbouring Nizamabad district drowned when he was taking the holy dip in the river. He was here to visit the Sri Gnana Saraswati Devasthanam located on the banks of the river.

Devotees take a holy dip before taking darshan of the presiding deity of the temple.

Bodies of the two persons were retrieved by divers from the river. A case was registered and investigations are on.
