Hyderabad: The river Musi is all set to get the heritage touch restored along its flow in the city through a series of projects that are getting lined up. Along its course, Musi will be dotted with a series of bridges that include 14 new heritage-themed ones apart from a link road. These heritage-themed bridges will be built across rivers Musi and Esa with an estimated budget of Rs 398 crore.

The Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) officials said that tenders for the works which aim to restore the river to its pristine glory would be floated before January 2022. Officials said once tendering work picks pace, the same would be followed by the works taking off at the earliest and completed at a brisk pace.

As per the proposal, these 15 facilities will improve the aesthetics of existing bridges on Musi, improve the traffic distribution across various roads and reduce the travel distances for commuters.

An architectural design competition for façade development, elevation and gateways of the bridges was done and proposals were invited from the prospective participants. The MA&UD Department has shortlisted the proposals and designs submitted by the consultants, architects and other experts.

The 15 works will be executed by Hyderabad Road Development Corporation Limited (HRDCL), Musi Riverfront Development Corporation Ltd (MRDCL) and Quli Qutub Shah Urban Development Authority (QQSUDA).
