The merger of these 27 ULBs came to light after Hyderabad Mayor, G Vijayalakshmi tabled this as a ‘Tabled item’ in the general body meeting held on Tuesday.

The Mayor read out an official communication issued by the Municipal Administration & Urban Development (MA&UD) and circulated it to all 150 GHMC Divisions corporators, seeking their support.

“The decision behind the proposal of merging these 27 ULBs is to maintain uniform development on par with the Hyderabad core city. The state government noticed massive urbanisation in these 27 ULBs and decided to implement comprehensive master planning, transport connectivity, and other basic amenities.”

Once the merger process is over, the budget allocation for these newly merged 27 ULBs will be discussed in the next GHMC budget session to be held soon, said the Mayor.
