Hyderabad: A total of 140 Chenchu couples tied the knot at a mass marriage ceremony held in Achampet.

The ceremony, which was held in a grand manner, saw these couples from 38 villages of seven mandals of Vikarabad district entering the wedlock. Apart from Nagarkurnool MP Ramulu, several senior social workers, community leaders and others from Hydreabad, Nagarkurnool and Mahabubnagar participated in the event.

Garikapati Narasimha Rao, leading religious scholar, spoke about traditional family values, relationships and importance of the concept of marriage. Senior functionary of the Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram P.Somayajulu and others addressed the event.
