16 naxalites killed, two DRG jawans injured in encounter in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma

Kothagudem: As many as 16 Maoists were killed in an exchange of fire between security forces and Maoist cadres on the borders of Sukma and Bijapur districts in Chhattisgarh on Saturday.
A large quantity of AK-47, SLR, INSAS rifles, .303 rifles, rocket launcher, BGL launcher and explosives have been recovered from the encounter site. A joint team of DRG and CRPF launched search operations under the Kerlapal police station area of district Sukma on Friday.
The gun battle broke out at around 8 am and bodies of Naxalites were recovered from the encounter site. There is a possibility of more Maoists having been killed or injured in the encounter. Patrolling and search operations are still going on in the surrounding areas.
