The killed naxalites have been identified as Haldar, a dreaded Maoist commander and member of the east Bastar division of Maoists, and Rame, an area committee member. Haldar and Rame carried rewards of Rs 8 lakh and Rs 5 lakh, respectively, on their heads

The incident took place near Ambeli village under Kutru police station limits in the district when a vehicle carrying security personnel was passing through the road in the naxal-affected area.
Security personnel recovered another IED planted by Naxalites at a different location in the same district, officials said. The first IED blast occurred around 11 a.m. near the newly established Raiguda police camp under the Chintalnar police station area. The explosion happened while a District Reserve Guard (DRG) team, a unit of the state police, was conducting an area domination operation, an official stated.

Bastar Range IG Sundarraj P informed the media that the encounter occurred in the hilly forests of Bandarpathar and Bhejji in the district. Personnel from the District Reserve Guard and CRPF participated in the operation. After returning to the nearest village, the security forces celebrated their success, joyfully embracing each other, displaying their personal weapons, and dancing to folk music.
A new camp of the security forces was opened on Tuesday at Tekulagudem village under the limits of Jagargund police station in Sukma district to curb the naxal activities.
