Warangal Urban: With a view to help the sanitation workers during the lockdown period, the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) set up a total of 20 free meal distribution centres under the GWMC limits for the benefit of the sanitation workers and ASHA workers.
Speaking to ‘Telangana Today’, Government Chief Whip and Warangal West MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar said that the civic body had formally launched a centre at GWMC headquarters here on Thursday. “In order to help the sanitation workers, who are frontline workers, the GWMC is opening the free meal distribution centres. Steps were taken to provide meals to at least 200 people at each centre,” he added.
“The State government is taking several measures for the welfare and well-being of the employees to see that no employee would suffer due to lockdown imposed to check the Covid-19,” he added. Even ASHA workers can also get free meals at these centres. On the other hand, the GWMC has arranged buses for the staff coming to the city from the merged villages.
