Hyderabad: Since the formation of Telangana State, the government had opened 204 new residential schools for the minorities in the State. While 12 schools were upgraded to junior colleges in 2018-19, another 71 schools were upgraded to junior colleges in 2020-21, Minister for Social Welfare Development and Minorities Welfare Koppula Eeshwar said.
Of the total 204 schools, the State government had set up 71 minority residential schools in 2016-17 and another 133 residential schools in 2017-18 to provide quality education to students from Muslim, Christian and other communities. Of these, 107 schools are for boys and 97 schools are for girls where a total 30,560 students are pursuing education. A total of 7,570 staff are working in these schools.
Replying to another questions during the Question Hour in the Assembly on Tuesday, the Minister said the State government sanctioned Rs 9.6 crore for taking up construction of CC ramp road, two-wheeler track and also parking space for four-wheelers on the hilltop for people visiting the Pahadi Sharif Dargah. He said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao allocated funds on a large scale to take up quality works and about 90 per cent of these works have been completed by the State Education and Welfare Infrastructure Development Corporation. Similarly, the construction of the ramp at Moulali has been handed over to GHMC at an expenditure of Rs 1.87 crore.
“The State government respects all religions and accordingly, developing infrastructure for mosques, churches and other places of worship for the minorities,” Eeshwar said.
