Warangal: At least 2,200 buses will be operated by TSRTC, Warangal region, from different locations to Medaram Sammakka-Sarakka jatara in Mulugu district. And 900 buses will be run from three points under Greater Warangal city limits, TSRTC Executive Director (Hyderabad & Karimnagar zones) P V Munishekar said at a press meet here on Monday.
Munishekar said special buses would be run from February 13 to 20. “While the RTC ran only 100 special buses in 1968 to Medaram during the jatara, a total of 3,845 buses will transport passengers to Medaram from different locations in the State for this biennial jatara,” he said, adding that they were expecting to carry 21 lakh passengers.
Stating that they had made all arrangements including a makeshift bus station near Medaram shrine in SS Tadvai mandal, he said that only TSRTC buses are allowed near the shrine, while private vehicles would be allowed only up to Narlapur village.
“We have set up a base camp with 42 queue lines in 50 acres of land near the Medaram Sammakka-Sarakka shrine,” Munishekar said, adding that a total of 12,200 RTC staff including drivers, conductors, mechanics and others would be working during the jatara.
Three ambulances will also be kept ready for emergency medical services. Referring to Covid-19 cases, he said that they would sanitise each bus thoroughly to prevent the disease and asked the people to wear masks while travelling in the buses.
The ED said that passengers can book a bus to come to their village or street if there are 30 passengers who want to visit Medaram. “The booking of special buses will be available till February 11,” Munishekar said, and added that RTC MD VC Sajjanar had recently visited Medaram and made suggestions for the smooth transportation of passengers. Regional Manager, TSRTC, Warangal, D Vijaya Bhaskar and others were present at the press meet.
530 special buses from Karimnagar
Karimnagar: TSRTC Karimnagar region officials have decided to operate 530 special bus services from various parts of the erstwhile Karimnagar district to Sammakka-Saralamma jatara from February 13 to 20. Disclosing details about the services, Regional Manager A Sridhar informed that the special buses would be operated from Karimnagar, Huzurabad, Peddapalli, Manthani, Godavarikhani and Eight incline colony. Of the 530 buses, 115 would be operated from Karimnagar, 125 from Peddapalli, 115 from Godavarikhani, 100 from Manathani, 45 from Huzurabad and 30 from Eight incline colony. Devotees travelling from Karimnagar as well as Peddapalli would be charged Rs 320 for adults and Rs 170 for children. For devotees travelling from Godavarikhani and Eight incline colony would be charged Rs 300 and Rs 160 respectively. Divisional manager Ravishankar, and Karimnagar Depot-1 manager Arpitha were also present.
