Karimnagar: Around 23 students of the Jyotiba Phule BC Gurukul at Sharmanagar here, fell ill due to food poisoning and were admitted in the hospital.
Students developed vomiting after midnight. School authorities shifted about 19 students to the district headquarters hospital in the night and another four students in the morning. The condition of students is said to be stable.
Cabbage curry served in the dinner is said to be the reason for the ill-health of students.
Knowing about the incident, Union Minister of State for Home, Bandi Sanjay Kumar spoke to district Collector Pamela Satpathy and enquired about the health condition of the students. He instructed the collector to take all precautionary measures to ensure that such incidents were not repeated.
