270 motorists jailed for drunk driving during New Year crackdown
The Hyderabad Traffic Police jailed 270 motorists caught drunk driving during intensive enforcement drives held between December 24 and 31, 2025. Courts swiftly convicted the offenders, awarding varying terms of imprisonment.
Hyderabad: A total of 270 persons who were caught drunk driving by the Hyderabad Traffic Police during the New Year crackdown, were jailed by the courts.
The traffic police conducted intensive special drives against drunk driving from December 24 to December 31, 2025.
As a result of strict checks and swift court proceedings, 270 motorists were convicted by the courts for driving under the influence of alcohol. The offenders were awarded imprisonment for different periods and sent to jail.
Authorities also initiated action to inform the respective workplaces and educational institutions of the convicted individuals, seeking appropriate disciplinary measures.
Traffic police officials reiterated that drunk driving will be dealt with firmly, without any leniency. The special enforcement drives will continue, they said.
