Karimnagar: Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan organised a 2K Run as part of Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav in Karimnagar town on Saturday.
District Collector RV Karnan along with Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayana flagged off the event at Ambedkar Stadium in the town.
Students, youth, government officials and others participated in the run, which reached Telangana chowk by passing through Bhagathnagar, Collectorate office, and Prathima multiplex.
Flagging off the run, Collector emphasised that everybody should practice exercise or yoga for at least 30 minutes a day to develop a healthy society and youth should give priority to physical fitness.
The present generation was addicted to smartphones and playing video games instead of practicing running, jogging and other sports. Asking the youth to stop playing games on mobile, he said mobile phones should be used only for essential purposes.
The CP advised the youth to change their lifestyle and concentrate on health. On the occasion, NSS and NCC cadets administered the ‘Fit India’ pledge with participants.
Additional Collectors Garima Agarwal (local bodies) and GV Shyamprasad Lal and others participated in the run.
