Hyderabad: A 42-year-old painter was found brutally murdered at his house in Gowdavelly of Medchal on Wednesday night, triggering panic among local residents.
The victim, identified as G Laxma Reddy, who resided near the Hanuman temple in Gowdavelly, was found dead in a pool of blood by his neighbours around 10 pm.
Preliminary investigation revealed that an unknown assailant attacked Laxma Reddy with an axe, inflicting severe head injuries leading to his death on the spot.
Medchal police are investigating. The motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained, they said.
Burglars strike four houses in Pocharam IT Corridor
Hyderabad: Burglars allegedly struck at four houses at Sanskruti Township in Pocharam IT Corridor area on the city suburb and decamped with valuables on Wednesday midnight.
According to the police, the owner of a flat in the township had locked the house and gone to his native place along with family members. After midnight, the burglars broke open the lock and decamped with gold ornaments and cash.
In the same township, locks of three other flats were also found broken, indicating attempted or partial burglaries.
On receiving information, the Pocharam IT Corridor police inspected the scene. Fingerprint experts were called in to collect forensic evidence.
The police said the flat owners had been informed, and the exact value of gold and cash stolen will be known once they arrive and verify their belongings.
