Adilabad: Forty six students of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya fell ill after consuming stale food in Adilabad town on Wednesday. They were admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS)-Adilabad. Their condition is stable. Collector Sikta Patnaik visited the hospital and instructed the doctors of the institute to provide better medical services to the pupils. She found out the details of the incident by speaking to the students. She said that the students had vomits and dehydration after having breakfast idli at their hostel.

She said that stern action would be initiated against the officials responsible for the incident. She reiterated that steps would be taken to prevent recurrence of similar incidents in future. District Health and Medical Officer Dr Narender, District Educational Officer Pranitha and Sectoral Officer Udaya Sri and many others were present. In the meantime, 28 students were hospitalized when they had lunch at a primary school at Gotkuri village in Thamsi mandal. They were rushed to RIMS-Adilabad. Their medical condition is learned to be stable. Contaminated lunch is suspected to be the cause of the incident. A probe by the authorities of the education department was begun into the contamination.
