BRS alleges Congress neglecting medical, health sector in Telangana

Former MLC Sathyavathi Rathod alleged that the Congress government was neglecting the medical and health sector. During a visit to RIMS-Adilabad, she demanded compensation for victims and injured infants and urged the government to improve healthcare facilities.

Adilabad: Former MLC Sathyavathi Rathod alleged that the Congress was completely neglecting the medical and health sector. She, along with former minister Jogu Ramanna, MLAs Kova Laxmi and Anil Jadhav, visited the Special Neonatal Care Unit (SNCU) at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) here on Wednesday.

Sathyavathi said that the RIMS-Adilabad tragedy, which had shaken people of Telangana, exposed the insincerity of the Congress government. She wanted the government to lay special focus on improving the medical and health sectors by considering the accident as a wake-up call. She demanded that it provide compensation of Rs 25 lakh to each victim and Rs 10 lakh to the injured baby.

The former MLC wanted the government to bear the cost of treatment provided in private hospitals to infants hospitalised due to the mishap. She informed that the BRS had announced a compensation of Rs 1 lakh to each victim. She vowed to stand by the families of the victims. She recalled that the BRS government had given paramount importance to the health and medical sectors.

She recounted that Basthi Dawakhanas were created as part of the party’s mission to provide better healthcare facilities to the poor. She said that 170 types of diagnostic services were also introduced by the then government for the financially weaker sections. The credit for establishing a medical college and nursing college in each district goes to former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, she added.
