460 ganja plants worth Rs 41 lakh seized in Asifabad
Kumram Bheem Asifabad police have arrested three persons for cultivating banned ganja plants in Sirpur (U) mandal. Raids led by SP Nitika Pant resulted in the seizure of 460 plants valued at Rs 41.2 lakh.

Kumram Bheem Asifabad: In three different incidents, three persons were arrested on charges of cultivating banned ganja plants. Police led by SP Nitika Pant conducted raids on farms and seized 460 ganja plants in two remote villages in Sirpur (U) mandal. The value of the plants was assessed at Rs 41.2 lakh.
Nitika, in a statement, said that Gedem Balaji and Gedem Jayavanth, both from Burnur village, Kumra Madhav Rao of Burnur and Pendur Suryabhanu belonging to Gattuguda village were apprehended for allegedly raising the ganja crop in their farms as intercrop. The three were found to be cultivating the banned crop during the raids, following a tip-off.
SP warned that both cultivation and smuggling of ganja would attract stern action as per the law. She said that those who indulge in peddling ganja and illegal activities would not be tolerated. She advised parents, teachers and people to keep their children away from getting addicted to contraband substances.
