6,443 2BHK units sanctioned to Kothagudem: Collector

Kothagudem: As many as 6,443 double bedroom houses have been sanctioned to Kothagudem district and around 2,334 houses have been handed over to beneficiaries, said Collector Anudeep Durishetty.
Speaking after unfurling the national flag on the occasion of 73rd Republic Day celebrations here on Wednesday, the Collector said that administrative sanction was given to 6,068 houses. The construction of houses was in progress.
He further said that following the State government’s decision to implement Dalit Bandhu in all Assembly constituencies steps have been taken to complete the identification of beneficiaries by the first week of next month. Special officers were appointed to implement the scheme. The Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) has been striving for the development of tribals. As many as 23, 970 tribal students were being offered quality education in 305 tribal schools and hostels, Durishetty said.
Referring to irrigation, he said with an estimated expenditure of Rs 3,200 crore Sitamma Sagar Multipurpose Project was being built at Ammagaripalli in Aswapuram mandal in the district. The project aims to store around 36.57 tmcs of water. A 320 mw power plant was also being built. The construction work of Sita Rama Lift Irrigation Project which aims to irrigate agricultural lands in erstwhile Khammam and Mahabubabad was in the final stages. The project is being built with an expenditure of Rs 13, 058 crore would irrigate around 6, 74, 387 acres of lands.
Under the Rythu Bandhu Scheme, around 1, 41, 655 persons were being supported in the district. An amount of Rs 195 crore was credited into their accounts while an amount of Rs 10 crore was paid under Rythu Bima to 189 families of deceased farmers, Durishetty explained. Through Mission Bhagiratha remote tribal hamlets like Rallapuram and Yerrampadu in Cherla mandal were being supplied safe drinking water. Under the scheme 2502 kilometres long pipelines were laid to supply water to 1550 habitations.
With the sanctioning of Medical and Nursing Colleges medical services would be improved in the district. A 100-bedded Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Centre built at Ramavaram would soon be inaugurated, the Collector said.
