Adilabad: The 76th Republic Day was celebrated with patriotic fervor and gaiety in the erstwhile Adilabad district on Sunday.
Collectors unfurled the tri-color flag on the premises of Integrated District Officers Complexes (IDOC) in district headquarters of Adilabad, Nirmal, Mancherial and Kumram Bheem Asifabad districts. They paid floral tributes to freedom fighters and those who laid their lives for the cause of independence to the country. They were joined by Superintendents of Police.
In Adilabad, Collector Rajarshi Shah said that the administration mechanism was striving hard to provide people-centric administration as envisaged by Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. He said that four key schemes were launched. A total of 77,442 applications were received from the public in 473 villages and 49 wards of the district during Gram sabhas held from January 21 to 24.
The IAS officer stated that a draft list of 18,741 ration cards was being examined and the eligible would get the cards soon. As many as 98,660 women were being benefited by the Griha Jyothi scheme. A total of 3.27 lakh cylinders were supplied to the women, spending Rs 9.24 crore. Crop loans worth Rs 685 crore were waived off so far. A total of 1.38 crore women availed free bus travelling facility.
Meanwhile, Collector Kumar Deepak unfurled the national flag at the IDOC in Mancherial town. He said that the administration mechanism was leaving no stone unturned to develop the district on many fronts. He later received a guard of honour presented by policemen. Deputy Commissioner A Bhaskar, Additional Collectors Motilal and district officials present.
Cultural programmes presented by school students and skits enthralled audiences. Tableaus of various departments were displayed explaining benefits of welfare schemes and developmental activities.
